Signs of Life Artist Book by Rokita

Signs of Life is a new limited edition artist book by contemporary Puerto Rican artist Rokita, produced to frame her Signs of Life collection. The work is constructed of 7 individual watercolor, ink, and thread paintings on handmade paper, bound with canvas and gold thread. In it, Rokita is playing with sense of place, imaginary map-making, and on the last page, centering the island of Puerto Rico as the subject. Through the use of beautiful blues and greens, the tension of the threads, and an obvious nod to the island of her family, Rokita seeks to bring Puerto Rico to the forefront of the minds of those engaged with the work.
